|  |  |  | What is the best way to cook my Christmas turkey? |  | |  | A normal single oven or the main oven of a full size double oven will take a turkey of up to 32 lbs or 15 kg.
A compact single oven or the main oven of a built-under double oven will take a turkey of up to 16 lbs or 7 kg. Use CircoTherm (fan) setting with the bird on the cooking grid placed in the universal pan which has been placed on the base of the oven.
A combination oven/microwave or the small oven of a built-under double oven will take a turkey crown or roll of up to 9 lbs or 4 kg.
All these weights are allowing for one shelf to be fitted above the turkey for roast potatoes etc.
Cook breast side down for the first half of the cooking time then turn and cover with foil to prevent burning.
Cooking Times: Always follow the cooking instructions on the packaging if there are any, remembering to adjust the temperature if necessary for a fan (CircoTherm) oven.
Up to 12 lbs - 25 minutes per lb plus 25 minutes.
12 – 20 lbs - 15 minutes per lb plus 15 minutes.
20 lbs and over – 12 minutes per lb plus 12 minutes.
Cooking temperature using fan (CircoTherm) setting is 170 degrees C.
Bear in mind that all cooking times are approximate and that you should check all meats with a skewer to ascertain that they are cooked to your preference. |  | |
